A Full Day on Wild Trout Water

The Upper Delaware River is widely regarded as one of the finest wild trout fisheries in the Eastern United States. This legendary tailwater — flowing through the scenic hills of Delaware County, New York — hosts thriving populations of wild brown and rainbow trout in water so clear you can watch the fish rise. Its proximity to New York City and Philadelphia makes it a prized destination for serious fly fishers who want world-class fishing without a cross-country flight.

Our full-day guided trips put you on the water for a full eight hours with an experienced local guide who has spent decades reading Delaware River water, tracking hatches, and developing the techniques that consistently produce fish on this demanding river. Whether conditions call for a well-placed dry fly during a Sulphur hatch or a tight-line nymph rig through a deep winter run, your guide will put you in the right spot with the right approach.

The Delaware is a challenging and rewarding fishery. Wild fish in clear, cold water are selective — but that selectivity makes every take all the more thrilling. Beginners will receive patient instruction throughout the day. Experienced anglers will be challenged and inspired by some of the most technical dry fly fishing in the country.

Seasons & Hatches

The Delaware fishes year-round, but each season has its character. Spring (April–June) brings the legendary Catskill hatches — Hendricksons, Blue-Winged Olives, Sulphurs, March Browns, and the spectacular Green Drake emergence. Summer fishing focuses on terrestrials, caddis, and early-morning and evening rises. Fall offers explosive streamer fishing as brown trout become aggressive before winter. Winter nymphing can be surprisingly productive during warm-weather windows.

Rules, Regulations & Catch-and-Release

All guided trips are strictly catch and release. We use barbless or de-barbed hooks and follow proper handling and release protocols to protect wild fish populations. A valid New York State fishing license is required for all anglers — licenses can be purchased online through the NYS DEC website before your trip. Your guide is fully licensed by the State of New York.
